«Intelligent sign» to stop motorist going in the wrong direction.

Intelligent sign stops wrong-way motorists.Confused motorists driving in the wrong direction on motorways, despite obvious signs, is a serious problem.

Statistics indicate that older drivers in particular are prone to entering motorways in the wrong lane.

The ultimate consequence of such errors are serious accidents and loss of life.

Obviously, it is very important to prevent these completely unnecessary driving mistakes.

Lattix is involved in the so called “Wrong way” project, which is run by the Norwegian Raod Authority, due to its competence in traffic security.

Lattix have deployed an «Intelligent Sign» designed to stop erroneous motorists on the motorway exit ramp. The «Intelligent sign» with radar is mounted on a forgiving Lattix aluminium signpost. The mast is passively safe and approved according to EN 12767 regulations.

The variable sign is equipped with a radar capable of detecting vehicles moving in the wrong direction on exit ramps. The radar then activates the sign, which will flash red lights and use high-powered LED's to display sign symbols («Stop» and «No entry»). When active, the variable sign will be clearly visible even in full daylight.

- Driving in the wrong direction is a serious problem for elderly motorists in particular, and for drivers ignoring traffic signs on account of old habits, said Kim Heglund, managing director of Lattix AS.

- We are proud to take part in this project. Roadside safety is always our first priority.
