Managing director of Lattix, Kim Heglund, wins Traffex’ prize
Posted on Apr 05, 2011 - 11:01 AM
He recieved the prize last week at Traffex in England, for his innovation and focus on road safety on English roads for 25 years.

There were two exceptional categories in which awards were made to individuals who had made a significant contribution and to companies who had shown a consistent and enduring commitment to innovation. In all cases these awards were made based on nominations which have been received from the wider Traffex community,
Kim Heglund was a winner in the individual contribution category. Kim has been involved in the development of advanced aluminium structures since the early eighties but it was not until 1991 that the first Lattix post that we would recognise arrived at the roadside.
An agreement to market this post in the UK was made with Signpost Solutions in 1995 but it was not until 2003 that sales really took off. Today the Lattix post is emblematic of passive safety and kickstarted a revolution which has made a major contribution to road safety in the UK. To date there have been 170 recorded incidents involving Lattix posts in the UK and no injuries.
Kim’s award recognises his tireless commitment to product development and his passionate support for passive safety which has already saved many lives.
The expert panel consisted of Professor Richard Allsop, Peter Bull of Sheffield City Council, Steve Norris, President of ITS (UK) and Steve Proctor of Traffic Management & Safety.
